Ruaha National Park

Tanzania's Largest National Park

About Ruaha National Park

Ruaha is Tanzania's largest national park and one of the last truly wild frontiers in East Africa. It shelters roughly 10% of the world's lion population and is one of the few places where both Greater and Lesser Kudu coexist. The Great Ruaha River cuts through the park, drawing massive concentrations of wildlife during the dry season. Budget safaris here cost significantly less than Northern Circuit equivalents, with lower park fees, fewer vehicles per sighting, and authentic bush camping under baobab-studded skies. Ruaha's combination of predator density, antelope diversity, and genuine remoteness makes it one of Africa's most underrated safari destinations for value-conscious travellers.

Best time to visit: June to November for dry season game viewing along the Great Ruaha River
